One Year Bible Reading Plans

We are excited to journey through the Bible again this year! There are two options of reading plans:

Bible in a Year Plan: Read the Bible cover to cover to get the Whole Story of Scripture. This plan is similar to last year, with some books moved around to break up difficult sections.

Genre Plan: Read the Bible with a focus on the different types or “genres” of Scripture in mind. This plan compares the varieties of Scripture while helping you make fresh connections between books that are not normally read together.

Responding to Scripture

A lot about how we respond to Scripture will be determined by how we read it.
Of course it should affect our actions. But the Bible is so much more than a manual for right behavior. So we want to encourage you this year to read the Bible for the sake of relationship. Think of your time in the Word as intimate, personal conversation with your God. And as God speaks to you, we want to encourage you to speak back to him.

Here are some tips on how to listen to the voice of God and let that lead you to pray:

Where do you see the character of God revealed?
Where do you see yourself exposed?
Where do you see the deeds of God made known?
Where do you see the purposes and plans of God disclosed?
If the Bible leads us to any kind of response, then it should lead us first to pray. So grab a journal and your Bible. Read God’s Word regularly, listen for his voice and let him hear your voice. Take some time to write out prayers, build lists of verses for adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication. And let your time in God’s Word take you into deeper communion with him this year.
